Thieves Take Truck, Enter Home
A resident of Iron City notified law enforcement officers Sunday that someone had entered his home while he slept, then stole his truck.
The victim, age 22, reported to deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department that his white, 1998 Jeep Laredo had been parked in the driveway when he went to bed around 11:00 p.m. Saturday.
He said that the keys to his truck and home had been left inside the vehicle. He told deputies that he went outside the next morning to find that his truck had been stolen.
The victim said that when he re-entered his home he began to notice that numerous items had been moved around, but that nothing appeared to be missing. Loss was estimated to be $3,500.
The victim notified the deputy later that he had additional information about the crime. He said a friend had driven past his residence around 11:15 p.m.
The friend reported seeing two males walking around the residence. He said that he knew the two men and that they reside on County Road 8 in Alabama.
Reports show that the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department was contacted to see whether they could recover the vehicle. Investigation in the matter is on-going.
